SKY

SKY This is a series of images collected over several years while traveling around the United States. They all are related to the different skies and skylines we have during both the day and night. Some are taken from airplanes, some from mountains, some from the desert. These are all images that were a bit of a surprise, like photographing the lightning storm in IKE, or being on a plane when the moon is full. I find it fascinating how clouds and the ground effect each other. Clouds over a glacier, for example, have a lenticular appearance, visible even when the glacier is not. The original installation was in two parts: day and night. Several of the pieces are facemounted to plexiglass, hanging a few inches off the wall, some are framed in plexiglass boxes, with the images floating inside. This expanded on the idea of aerial space. Everything clear, floating, and ethereal.
